Who we are
Yacht Flagging is a jurisdiction-advisory service operated by Performance West Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of data protection law, Performance West Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at advisory@yachtflagging.com for any privacy question, including to exercise any of the rights listed below.
What we collect
This site is intentionally simple, and we only collect what's needed to respond to you and, if you engage us, to do the advisory work itself:
- When you contact us. If you email us, we have your email address, name, and whatever you choose to tell us about your vessel or situation.
- If you become a client. Preparing a jurisdiction comparison requires real detail — vessel specifications, ownership structure, financing, tax residency, and similar information you provide directly during the consultation. See our confidentiality commitment on the homepage for how this is handled.
- Standard web server logs. Like any website, our server automatically logs basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and operational purposes. This site does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or any other tracking technology.
How we use it
We use the information above to respond to inquiries, prepare and deliver your jurisdiction consultation, coordinate registration if you proceed, and keep the site itself secure and running. We do not use it for unrelated marketing, and we do not sell it, ever.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only where necessary to do the work you've engaged us for — for example, with the specific flag-state registry, an authorized resident agent, or a maritime counsel partner, and only the details that step actually requires. We may also disclose information if required by law. Otherwise, nothing you share leaves our hands without your consent.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or longer where we're required to by law or professional regulation (for example, standard anti-money-laundering recordkeeping obligations that can apply to registration and company-formation-adjacent work). You can ask us to delete information we hold on you; see Your Rights below.
International transfers
Flag-state registration is inherently cross-border — a registry, resident agent, or counsel we work with on your behalf may be located outside your home country or the UK. Where that's the case, we take reasonable steps to keep your information protected consistent with this policy.
Your rights
If you're in the UK, EU, or a jurisdiction with similar protections, you generally have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. Contact advisory@yachtflagging.com to exercise any of these. UK residents can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you believe we haven't handled your information properly.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you share with us, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page if this policy changes in any meaningful way. Continuing to use the site or work with us after a change means you accept the updated policy.
